Graphics Design Elements
April 15, 2009
In creating the finished design, there are elements in which a designer uses that are beyond context and the actual photographs. A designer puts to mind the usage of lines, shapes, mass, texture and color with every design he creates. The elements of design are now, not only used in basic art, but also used in different processes. All designers especially those from a graphic design company makes full use these elements for designing, advertising, publishing, on the web or on paper.
The Elements:
Basically it is the LINES that is the most basic element that aid in the creation of shapes and can aid in the readability and outcome of your work. The lines are what give the work of art an appearance that stimulates texture and movement.
Next up in graphics design is the MASS or the heaviness of the design. This also refers to the size of the picture in relation to the layout as a whole.
The SHAPES in the design can give the eye and organized information, whether alone or in different combination. This is the element that grabs a person's attention. This is the element that symbolizes a designer's emotion and idea.
The TEXTURE of a creative design gives a masterpiece an overall message whether intentional or not. The textures of an image can give the feeling of roughness, smoothness of a design. This may be either an actual texture or just a mere visual texture. Each pattern and texture symbolizes and represents an idea or an object based on a creative concept or a mood.
Lastly is the COLOR. In art the color is not an essential element for a design to be as good as it is. The simple blacks and whites are as much as effective as the reds, blues, and greens. Each color and shade give a design the life and mood the graphic artist wishes to convey.
